Figure Competitor Cable Exercises
If you are preparing for a figure competition, you have probably been weight training for a while to build that solid muscle foundation. While working out with barbells, dumbbells, and machines are great, so are cable exercises.
Cable exercises are a wonderful way for figure competitors to add variety and a unique intensity to their figure prep workouts. Cables can be used in a gym or in the comfort of your own home. Working out with cables allow you a great deal of training variety with the use of various hand grips, leg attachments, ropes, and bars.
In this article I'll go over some of the best figure competitor cable exercises so you can take your training, muscle gain, and fat loss to the next level to win your figure competition.
Cable cross-over's - Cable cross-over's are a great cable exercise for the inner chest. There are many varieties to this exercise. With cable cross-over's you can target different areas of the inner chest such as upper inner chest, middle inner chest, and lower inner chest for a well rounded upper body to present on stage.
The way to target these various areas of the inner chest are where you place the base of the cable. A high cable attachment will target the lower inner chest more. A middle cable attachment will target the middle inner chest more, and a low cable attachment will target the upper inner chest more.
Cable crunches - Cable crunches are a wonderful exercise to add intensity to ab training and to develop the abs. Simply hook the rope attachment to a high cable. Kneel on the floor and hold the rope on each side of your head, and then crunch down and expel your air. Be sure to avoid keeping a straight back when doing this exercise. You need to curl your torso down and get a good crunch for ab development and fat loss.
Cable push-down rope attachment - To make that horseshoe head pop out add in cable push-down using the rope attachment to finish off triceps training. Do the push down as usual with the rope, but when you get to the bottom of the movement, pull the rope ends out at each side and hold it there for 2 seconds, release, and repeat. You'll feel the burn and get results FAST.
