How to Jump Start Your Figure Competition Program
Finding the perfect figure competition program can be quite the challenge. Many first time figure competitors are lost in a whirlwind of excess and conflicting information, resulting in information overload. However, I am going to share with you some cool tips and tricks on how to jump start your figure competition program so you can start losing body fat today.
Know your calories - It is not enough to just count calories, you have to create a caloric-deficient environment if you want to lose body fat for your figure contest. Most first time figure competitors have great success by eating 10% less calories for their BMR. By eating 10% less calories, your body will QUICKLY start dropping body fat in a matter of days. Once your body fat starts moving down consistently for 2 weeks, add in a re-feed day to super-charge your metabolism and this will double your fat loss for the next 2 weeks.
Lower your carbs wisely - If you really want to jump start your figure competition program be sure to lower your carbs the right way. All too often the first time eager figure competitor will cut her carbs right out the gate. She will lose some weight the first 3-4 days, but by day 5 she has hit the wall, crashing her energy levels, and blew every ounce of motivation to train. To ensure this doesn't happen to you, be sure to start your diet off with a few carbs and slowly reduce them. Keeping your body off guard is one of the keys to a successful figure competition prep plan.
Build your cardio gradually - Cardio is a huge part of a figure competitor's prep program. However, to really jump start your figure competition program you need to be smart about cardio so you don't lose muscle and burn yourself out in a matter of weeks. Far too many first time figure competitors hit the cardio full-force day one, doing up to 60 minutes a day for 7 days a week. That is a recipe to overtraining and burning out in just weeks. Be smart and trick your body by starting cardio off on the low end and building it up gradually so your body is always kept off guard.
Use a variety of training principles - It's not lie. If you want to jump start your figure competition program you MUST implement a variety of training principles in your training to keep your muscles responding and your body fat moving down. It's not enough to just weight train, you have to constantly change your training to create the body of an awesome figure competitor.
These are just a few basic tips to get you started on your figure contest journey. Use them wisely and watch your body change in a matter of days.
