Figure Contest Tip #1 - Find an Organization that's Right for YOUR Physique

These days, female fitness figure organizations are a dime a dozen, but that doesn't mean they are all alike. Various organizations such as NPC and USBF look for and judge much differently than organizations such as OCB and INBF.

Before you get started in preparing for your first figure competition it would be a good idea to attend a few local shows of varying organizations to see how the competitors look. Be sure to note their muscularity and definition to see which group you think you would best place in.

Figure Contest Tip #2 - Decide how long it will take you to prepare

A female fitness figure competitor's prep time varies from competitor to competitor. While some figure competitors can get away with dieting for only 12 weeks, others need at least 16-20 weeks. A good body fat percentage range for the figure stage is anywhere from 9-15%.

You need to get your body fat percentage and determine how long it will take you to diet down to 9-15%. Most figure competitors can lose up to 1-2 pounds a week if they are committed to their figure competition diet.

Figure Contest Tip #3 - Find a Qualified Figure Competition Coach

To ensure you are on the right track and can place well and even win, you really should find an established figure coach to prep you for your first figure competition. When researching a figure coach look for his or her qualifications and history. See how long they have truthfully been around helping others. Be sure to check out their testimonials and success stories.

Be careful, since figure competitions are so popular these days, a lot people will market themselves as a figure coach with no proven track record.

These are just a few quick tips and guidelines on how to prep for your first figure competition.
